Mike, anything I should know before I upgrade my OS from 98SE to XP Home?

Did you run the Windows XP Upgrade Advisor?

I'd advise either starting with a new computer, or wiping your hard drive (after backing-up) first.

Prepare for plenty of things to be broken. Run every service pack you can before moving anything from your back-up.

Good luck man.

Houston I have a problem!
I have an HP 9300 Series CD Writer on this here Dell of mine.
It make wonderful CD's of my music files, and to be honest I never back anything up.
Now I go try to do an HP Simple Backup and the sucker freezes.
Ctrl-Alt-Del Program not responding.

So now I get the disk out and reinstall the software all over again.
Complete!

Go back to HP Simple Backup
Frozen again!

WTF???

You might be better off slaving an additional hard drive to do the backup (they're very cheap). I don't think 98 has native USB support, but you may be able to use a USB PCI card to connect an external - which you can always use.

It's been a long time since I've seen a 98 system - I thought W98 didn't support USB. If they work - I would buy an external hard drive. They are the best opotions for backup now. I use mine all the time. I'm waiting for the prices to come down on the network attached storage drives (NAS). That would be the best alternative in a wireless environment.
