Login cookie issues for Safari users

Sun Nov 04, 2007 3:03 pm

At home, I normally use the Safari browser on the Mac to access the board, and I found that the cookie mechanism to keep me logged in on this browser had suddenly stopped working. I discovered there's an option in Safari's preferences selected by default to only accept cookies from sites you navigate to directly, to prevent advertisers from cluttering up your hard drive. Since our phpBB software redirects you when logging in to establish your session, this security mechanism in Safari doesn't allow the cookie to reach your system. Unfortunately, the only way around it at the moment is to either log in manually every time, to accept cookies from all sites, or to use Firefox or another browser.

This may account for login cookie problems for other browsers, so please check your browser or cookie manager for a similar setting.
